Am Frühlingstag der Haapsalu-Vorschulkinder eröffnete der Verein Punase Risti Läänemaa am Donnerstag vor Hunderten von Kindern im Uuemõisa-Park eine über drei Meter hohe und 700 Kilo schwere Nistkastenskulptur, die von Tiit Moor, dem Koordinator der, geschaffen wurde Region Punase Risti Lääne.
Am Ufer des Teiches steht ein riesiger, aus einem Inselbaum geschnitzter, ausgehöhlter und im Boden verankerter Nistkasten mit einer Öffnung zum Wasser hin. Vogelzeichnungen bedeckten den Nistkasten und für die Installation war ein Gabelstapler erforderlich. „Er wird nicht umfallen“, versicherte Moor. „Jetzt müssen wir nur noch warten, bis der erste Vogel in den Nistkasten einzieht.“
